This breathtaking fortress, standing at the border of the Perigord Noir and
Quercy, is one of the best examples of military architecture from the end
of the 15th and 16th centuries.
Behind its traditional apperance this fortress shows a remarkable display
of modern firearm techniques.
In addition, Bonaguil, which was built as a safe shelter and was prepared for any attack, was original in the years 1480-1520 in that it used firearms exclusively for defense and not for threat.
There are numerous festivals organised at Bonaguil. The lighting of the castle in July, Bonaguil festival in August (open air theatre) , Tour of the castles in August (cross-country bicycle race), Car rally in September, various exhibitions.
